The article from the standpoint of systemic, synergistic, competent, professionally oriented and communicative-cognitive approaches considers textbook as a complex didactic-methodical support for foreign language educational process in non-linguistic universities. This is justified by high requirements training situation with few hours students learning language, lack quality modern textbooks uniformed their creation. authors define education, identify its main parameters describe content components. conceptual-objective component represents global education goal – formation communicative competence; subject-procedural - social experience combining cognitive, reproductive, creative emotional-value relationships to acquire; instrumental modified polymodal exercise elementary unit, which capable being incorporated into any technology; controlling-evaluating component, evaluation criteria funds instructor self-monitoring self-evaluating tools students. material can be used create
